Friendships between American host families and their teens can continue for many years. Former CFP Executive Director Don Guziewicz and his wife Pat, who served as the Pennsylvania Area Coordinator for the Northern Ireland program, recently visited some of their former hosted teens.
“Pat and I have stayed in contact over the years with many, but not all, CFPNI teens that we hosted and their families. We have been invited to many weddings over the years and have attended those that we could. Last year we were fortunate to be able to attend the wedding of one of our 2001 girls in October and to visit with another who had just given birth to a set of twins.
When we visit Northern Ireland, word seems to get out and we always end up meeting somewhere to socialize with food and drink. This year was no different — we met with a group of approximately 20 — teens and families.
This is what CFP is all about: the key words are “creating friendships”, friendships between the teens, teen families, host families and program volunteers, some of which last forever. Don Guziewicz
